How To use Overlay for editing in KineMaster

Overlay in KineMaster are like clipart or a sticker which can be added in a video clip as a layer. Most likely to be Emojis or Emoticons. But then there are a few overlays which offer live actions such as blinking, transforming etc.

What is overlay in KineMaster?

KineMaster allows you to add short animated clips to your videos in the form of Overlays. Overlays are added as a layer on top of your original video clips. Later, to this overlay layer, you can also add multiple Animations, Texts, Effects, and pretty much edit your overlay as your wish. You can also increase or decrease the size of the overlay as well as position your overlay to any location you would like to.

KineMaster offers just two pre installed overlays on the free version. These include the Neon Delights and Classic Stickers. The Neon Delights contain a set of colourful animated stickers which can be very useful for few users. While the classic stickers are just a collection of emojis and emoticons. And yes. If you have a subscription, you won't have to worry about overlays since you can download many premium overlays.

How to use overlay in KineMaster?


In order to use overlay in KineMaster Pro Video Editor. Follow the instructions provided below.

Step 1 : Open KineMaster along with few clips of yours.

In order to start adding overlays, you'll need to have few video clips. If you do not have any videos at the moment, you can still use any image of your own as a video clip. Overlays will work the same on both an image clip and a video clip.

Step 2 : Open Overlay Menu.

Tap on Layer>Overlay (the interface changes). You can now select any overlay of your choice or you can also download more by tapping on “Get more” option. Or if you just want to quickly add an overlay, tap on Neon Delights and select any sticker from the set. You will then notice a big blank square box on your video. Well that's the overlay but the reason why it's blank is because the animation haven't been played yet. Tap on the top right check mark (✓) in order to insert the overlay.

Step 3 : Make all necessary adjustments to your overlay.

As mentioned earlier above. You can make multiple changes to your overlay by adding custom Animations, text, and pretty much customise your overlay to make it suitable for your video.

Step 4 : Preview your progress.

You can now preview your video clip by tapping on the play button. Once your video plays, you'll get a clear idea on how the overlay works in KineMaster. You could also add musics in your video to make it sound cool.
